Tax Accountant Expert

AfterQuery is seeking Tax Accountant Experts to create and refine tax preparation and planning challenges for training AI models. In this remote, flexible role, you will design and evaluate tax scenarios that test the AI's ability to interpret and apply complex tax principles, ensuring that our models can navigate real-world tax compliance, strategic planning, and regulatory requirements with precision and practical insight. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between proven tax accounting practice and innovative AI solutions, making a tangible impact on the future of tax technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality tax accounting questions and case studies that challenge AI models on topics such as tax return preparation, tax planning strategies, deduction optimization, tax law interpretation, audit representation, estimated tax calculations, and more.
• Evaluate and validate model responses, offering detailed feedback to ensure accuracy and adherence to tax accounting best practices and IRS regulations.
• Collaborate with a team of tax and technical experts to fine-tune question difficulty and ensure content is both challenging and educational.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience as a tax accountant, tax preparer, or in tax compliance with a robust understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
• Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Preferred qualifications

• Multiple years of tax accounting experience, ideally across diverse tax areas (individual, corporate, partnership, estate, international, etc.).
• Big 4 accounting firm experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software platforms.
• Prior involvement in tax publications, continuing education, or tax technology initiatives.
• CPA license, Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, or master's degree in taxation is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI or technology-driven tax applications is a plus.
