Key findings
- 1
The advertised median is closest to the minimum wage in Australia: $65 an hour against a minimum of $18.40, 3.5 times.
- 2
It is furthest above it in India: $60 against $0.23, 259 times (the minimum there: national floor level minimum wage, advisory, not binding; binding minimum wages are set by states).
- 3
In Australia, 3.9% of the roles a resident may apply to advertise less than the local minimum wage; in 7 of the 19 countries compared, none do.
- 4
For US residents the median advertised rate is $70 an hour, 9.7 times the federal minimum of $7.25 (states set higher minimums).
- 5
24 countries are listed but not compared: Spain, Italy, Sweden and Denmark and others have no statutory minimum, a monthly rate with no stated hours, or a currency the ECB does not quote.
Figure 1
Advertised AI training pay against the local minimum wage
For the roles a resident of each country may apply to, how does the advertised hourly rate compare with that country's minimum wage?
Sample. 3,031 roles open on 17 Oct 2026 that state an hourly rate, counted for every country whose residents may apply (open worldwide, listing the country, or not excluding it); minimum wages in force as their official sources state them, converted at the ECB reference rates of 16 Oct 2026.
The minimum shown is the national statutory rate (or the region or sector the source names); regional and sector rates can be higher.
A role open worldwide counts for every country, at the same advertised rate: platforms that set rates per country publish them as separate roles, which count only where they are open.
Advertised pay is an offer for an accepted hour; unpaid time (qualification tests, idle time between tasks) lowers what a worker actually earns per hour.

Buy the data behind this report
The figures above are a summary. Behind them are records we collect ourselves, every day:
9,572 roles tracked, each with its history
Every role on 29 job boards, read daily since 13 Jul 2026: its pay and place, and the first and last day it was open.
6,200 apply clicks in 28 days
Which roles people actually apply to, by field, pay and kind of work. It happens on this site, so nobody else can count it.
39 lab and vendor hiring boards
The job boards of 25 AI labs and 14 human-data vendors, read every day: who is hiring for human data, and who is hiring to buy it.

Method and definitions
The public job boards of the AI training platforms this site tracks, read every day. Minimum wages from each country's official source (labour ministries, gazettes, Eurostat), linked beside each row; exchange rates from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates. Every figure is computed by one database query over the window shown, the same query for the live report and for every edition. Each figure states its sample beneath it.
- Minimum wage
- The statutory minimum in force as its official source states it: national, federal, or the region or sector the source names.
- Hourly minimum
- The hourly rate the source states; or a daily rate divided by an 8-hour day; or a monthly rate divided by the hours the source itself states. Any other monthly or yearly minimum is not converted and the country is not compared.
- Conversion
- Local currency to US dollars at the European Central Bank's euro reference rates of the day (US dollars per euro over the currency per euro). Currencies the ECB does not quote are not converted.
- Open to a country
- A role is open to residents of a country if it is open worldwide, its list names the country, or its exclusion list does not.
- Advertised pay
- The hourly figure a posting states (the middle of a stated range). Medians need at least 8 roles stating a rate; the middle half runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile.
- Window
- Live: the last 28 complete days, in UTC. Edition: one calendar month, in UTC.
What this data cannot tell you
- Platforms that recruit without a public job board are not counted. Several large ones invite workers to projects directly.
- A listing is not a hire. Some platforms keep evergreen roles open for months, and some post one listing per language or country.
- Advertised pay is an offer for an accepted hour; unpaid time between tasks and in qualification tests lowers actual hourly earnings.
- A minimum wage is a floor, not a living wage; regional and sector minimums can be higher than the national figure shown.
How the job feeds are read and roles are classified: site methodology. How fresh, complete and consistent the data is, checked every day: data quality and coverage.
Editions
The live report covers the last 28 complete days and changes every day. Each complete month is also published as an edition, frozen two days after the month ends, so a figure you cite from an edition never moves.
